Hitty Tomasina, Hitty Terry, and Miss MacDonald
attend the Fumble-Fingers Crafters Meeting

Hitty Tomasina was a bit confused as to why they would arrive at 9:00 o'clock
when the meeting was not until 10:00 o'clock,
but she soon learned that Miss MacDonald wanted to
do some work in the Food Pantry before the meeting.

"Just as I thought," said Miss MacDonald. "They are always putting the food
on the wrong shelves." Hitty Terry pushes the cans of corn together, while
Hitty Tomasina helps Miss MacDonald with the carrots.

Hitty Tomasina straightens the peanut butter shelf.
"One of these jars would feed the AGA for a week," she jokes.
Miss MacDonald laughs. "That's what you think!"

Finally, it is time for the meeting.
Hitty Tomasina looks at the project the group is making.
It looks a bit complicated, and she is glad to be making
her charm quilt instead.

Hitty Terry Loves the orange swirls on the fabric.
But it doesn't fit in with her color scheme, so she
reluctantly puts it aside.

Miss MacDonald checks the shuttle-thread for Julie Old Crow.
It can be aggravating to run out with just inches left to sew!

Finally, everyone stops chatting and gets to sewing.

Hitty Terry presses some of her fabric.

Hitty Tomasina is borrowing Mrs. Plum's new Janome.
"It can do everything but pick my fabric colors!" she says.

Miss MacDonald prefers and old-fashioned machine.
"A treadle is what I learned on, and I have always preferred to use it."

"I have the batting!"

"Put it over there, and we'll pin the tops," says Miss MacDonald.
Everyone pitches in to get the tops basted to the backings.

Hitty Terry and Miss MacDonald show off their quilts.
Hitty Terry loves Civil War reprints.
Miss MacDonald has employed sashing--a hand-dyed fabric from Sara Cole,
Hitty Terry's Person.

But everyone agreed that Hitty Tomasina's spring colors were
the most appropriate for the lovely day.

When the meeting is over, they meet for tea at the home of the Hilltop Hittys.

Hitty Terry goes right for the teacakes!

Tea is taken in the living room.

Miss Hickory and Miss MacDonald catch up on news
between the Hilltop Hittys and the Ash Grove Academy.

And who has joined them for tea, but three bitty Thompsons!
A nice family reunion.
