Summer Essays
Summer
by Hitty Colleen
Summer in Maine is the best time of year. It's a time to share our beautiful
state with others. This year we invited guests to stay at our B &
B. We've take our guests to Great Cranberry Island, to Portland, and to
local landmarks which include having photos taken at writer Stephen King's
home, our Hitty Mom says his house is haunted.
This year we learned that we live only ten miles from the 45th parallel.
We also learned that many people do not know what the 45th parallel is
which is the half way point between the North Pole and the Equator. No
wonder it is so cold in our state.
We take our tents outside and sleep under the stars, or should I say try
to sleep under the stars but we mostly listen to the Coyotes howling.
We go boating at Molasses Pond. Mr. Tom plants a small vegetable garden
so we can eat fresh vegetables instead of buying them.
We love it when Hitty Mom goes yard saleing as she usually brings home
some really neat stuff for us Hittys.
I have to say, fall, winter and spring can be nice in Maine but the best
season of all is Summer.

Summer 2007
by Edgar
Summer 2007 has been cool....I don't mean the weather.
I love to be outside using my skateboard or just hanging out with other
other kids. I have many enjoyable activities. A favorite activity is to
be with my pets. The pet I am bringing to camp has been the most fun.
Liam is a black-faced sheep from Scotland. He is very gentle, loves to
follow me everywhere I go, and is not very picky when it comes to feeding
him. He likes to eat grass or anything green from the ground. If you had
a pet like Liam, you would not need a lawnmower.
A couple of weeks ago, my mom bought me a hutch
with rabbits. The rabbits are albino. So far there are only two. I wonder
if there will be more rabbits when I get home from camp.
Another pet is Atticus. He is a Rottweiler mix.
The other boys and I take turns caring for him. Like Liam, he is very
gentle. Atticus likes to go for walks and catch frisbees.
